Good morning. My name is Chad from Illinois. After about a year of regretting my COS purchase and wallowing in my own misery, I have researched until I'm cross eyed. Ponied up and ordered a 24" WSM, ET732 to monitor and a thermopen mk4 just in case. Still waiting on delivery. Can't wait to get started as we have our 1st nice weather this weekend. Sadly I failed to research shipping and my smoker won't arrive until Monday. Oh well! Have a brisket waiting and Jeff's rub on standby for my first foray into smoking. Thanks to all for the abundance of info on this site both opinion and facts. Can't wait to read more. Thanks for having me

Welcome to SMF!

I don't think I would go to work on Monday or Tuesday so I could get that brisket smoking!

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a rainy  cool day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

It was a sad day.
A moment of silence for 1 beautiful brisket that I murdered. Notes taken, smoker seasoned and there will be another day. Next assassination attempt will be on a pork butt.more forgiving for a rookie like me

I probably shouldn't have tried a brisket for my 1st smoke with a moderately seasoned new smoker. Temp control was a big issue due to my lack of expertise. My pride doesn't usually allow for chicken experiments. I'm a go big or go home sort of guy
