New member here to the site but have read some of the threads on here. I figured it was time to sign up. I would say that I am still a newbie to smoking as I have only been doing it for roughly 3 years. Last year I really got into it and my neighbor and I decided to enter an amateur contest near us. Did pretty well too! I've smoked in a webber offset smoker, a charcoal grill, a big chief, and my neighbors vertical bbq smoker. This year I am starting my research on building my own smoker. As I am an electrician I am considering an electric one where I can program in the temp and have it self-regulate. I was also considering sticking with a vertical style smoker for simplicity, though this is still open for debate. I have read a couple of threads of builds others have done and love the info. Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the group!  I've been smoking for about three years also.  I've got a WSM.  I deal with electronics/electricity daily, I enjoy the non electrical break from charcoal/wood smoking.  Glad you joined us.

Hey there, glad you decided to join.  I'm at the far end of Vancouver Island, good to have another PNW smoker around here.  I'm a charcoal smoker, I just like playing with fire I guess.  Good luck on the build, keep us posted.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a rainy  cool day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.
