Custom Smoker

Thread Starter

I've got some material that I think I can make a smoker out of, but I can't decide on the design.  I have two 12" in diameter and 16" long cylinders with caps on one end.  I have a few options and I don't know what option would be best:

Option 1) Use one as a horizontal firebox and the other as a horizontal smoker

Option 2) Use one as a horizontal firebox and the other as a vertical smoker

Option 3) Use one as a vertical firebox and the other as a horizontal smoker

Option 4) Use one as a vertical firebox and the other as a vertical smoker

Option 5) Make a separate firebox and use one or both as the smoker

Welcome to the site.  Those are some interesting pieces you've got there.

You may get more response to your questions if you post them on the smoker builds page.  (There will be a larger number of folks looking for smoker builds there than on this page).

Split in half. weld each half together cap ends opposite of each other. weld legs 38 inch legnth. Cut in an air grate along the entire bottom. add an inner coal rack and grate across the top.

Start hardwood fire on lower rack, and burn down to coals. Place top rack across. add oysters in a single layer and pick off when they begin to open.

Some hot sauce.................

You got an oyster pit
