Building new cold smoker

So the idea is to build a cold smoker on a incline with a separate fire box. I have a old wood burning furnace and am going to build a wooden smoke house. My question is how long should the run be and at what incline? The fire box can handle 30" wood and the smoke house will be 4x4x7 with the smoke coming up from underneath.
