Hello all. :) I started smoking about 5 years ago using a tiny make-shift aluminum foil smoke box, which I used inside a regular gas grill. It is depressing to think back of how desperate I was to have a smoky flavor in my meats. And then I moved up to a cast iron smoke box. And couldn't take it any more, skipped right over buying a store bought smoker and built my own cedar smokehouse, finally, about a year and a half ago. I wish I could say I actually built it...I put my awesome hubby to work on it. I found the perfect smokehouse, right here on this forum, posted by ATCNICK, I followed the photos and went and bought the materials. This was not an easy task. Cedar is expensive and not everyone sells it. I brought the materials home and showed my husband the pictures. Oh how excited he was to jump right on this project. He loved the idea and went right to work. We have had the best smokes...it's great to be our neighbor, atleast that's what they tell us!! Not to mention, the smokehouse looks awesome in our backyard. Glad to finally be a registered forum user. It has been so helpful to us as we've learned to better our skills at smoking.
