Hello. I've been smoking various things for a few years on a charcoal smoker, but wanted to be able to cold smoke to make bacon and smoked cheeses. The recent cold weather finally made me start this project, and I wanted to get it done quick before it gets to warm to use here in Florida. This is my quick and cheap smoke house.
I used block for the base, but did not mortar it together. No slab either, it just sets on leveled ground.
I did drop concrete into some of the holes to hold it together, and to have something to bolt the plate to. Also turned a half block on end to pipe the smoke in.
Bolted on some treated 2x8 to start the box.
2x4 sides will be covered with cedar.
Siding on and the doorway framed up. I used 1/4" tongue and groove cedar closet liner. Cheap and easy to use.
Roof on and door built up. I'll be covering the plywood roof with tin. Covered the top vent with screen to keep critters out. I'll still put some trim across that with a damper to control the exhaust, but for now it works.
Mailbox attached. AMNPS inside.
Finally fired it up tonight. Got some nice smoke from that little mailbox!
