Not Fair ... So not fair. We're still singing the domoic acid blues down here in CA. Heartbreaking to say the least. Another good reason to move to OR i guess.
Yeah it was bad this year. Most of the shellfish harvesting has been closed since last spring here. It was really nice getting these. Best price in a few years too.

I would need to get a mortgage on my house to buy them here.Nice job

I can only imagine! We used to send them live to a buddy in Massachusetts. He's a lobsta fisherman and he'd send the cooler back with live Lobsta!

On one boat delivery down the east coast I holed up in Atlantic City with mechanical issues. We moored at the State Marina which at the time had Trumps Castle there. One night we did the all you can eat buffet. They had Dungeness crab of all things!

Awesome looking crab. Can't but them here, but we have Stone crab from Nov thru May here.

It's unfortunate that you can't get them! Dungeness are some of the finest tasting morsels from the sea. Better come visit the Left Coast!

We're screwed. Things were improving down here for awhile and then the last batch of crabs tested increased in toxicity by almost 100%.

The good news is that I still have some picked meat in the freezer from last year!! The frozen stuff is nothing like fresh but still works out great for things like crab cakes or crab dips. I'm thinking about tossing a crab dip in the smoker instead of the oven this weekend. My father in law will be staying with us for his birthday and the smoke will be rolling anyway, so why not? I've stuffed ABTs with crab before and found that the crab flavor was mostly lost in the bacon, pepper and cheese.

I fish crab for a living so I can't join in on your excitement about the low prices. I like them priced as high as people will pay

.  Really I'm glad you're getting some for a good price and enjoying it.

I hear ya, I spent a good  portion of my life making a living on the ocean. They opened this year at $2.90 a pound, down from last years $3.10. Do you fish out of Eureka, Crescent City? Last boat delivery I did we got caught up in the Fukashima tsunami. Had to bail out of Half Moon bay and make it to Fort Brag.  Got our asses kicked off Punta Gorda that trip too.

Yeah I have done shrimp and crab in ABT's and you are right you loose the flavor. Smoked salmon does well in ABT's.

I love crab   Those look great  only crabs here in East Texas look like crawfish     Nice job
