Excited new member!!

What's going on guys? Ice always wanted a smoker and since I've got my own house now me and my friends have all been talking about getting one, lucky me Santa or my mother in law brought one for Christmas!! It's a brinkmann vertical smoker and I read the reviews on Home Depot and people suggested modifications but of course the link isn't there anymore. I'm so excited to get involved in this, what do you guys think I should start with as far as meats? Any suggestions on how to go about this whole smoking thing would be great!!
