Minion Method in Weber Smokey Mountain 22"

I used the minion method all the time in my old ECB with great success. I am going to try it for the first time with my 22" Weber Smokey Mountain. The charcoal grate is way larger than my old ECB. Will this affect using the minion method at all? Here is a pic of my grate with my fist in the middle as a point of reference for how much charcoal is in there. I'm just concerned with all that charcoal it will burn too much and my cook will run too hot.

Running too hot should not be a problem.  Remember you are controlling the burn with the lower vents.
