IMO, if it's wrapped in Saran Wrap, it should last about 6 months without freezer burn. If it's vacuum sealed (best way for everything), it will keep for a year and still be very good. As you get more involved in smoking and have good left overs to keep, you will want to get a good vacuum sealer for freezing. I use the "Food Saver" and like it a lot.
