There is nothing fancy in this post, just a nice steak and potatoes. Despite the outrageous cost, I bought a nice piece of sirloin. I brushed it with Clubhouse Signature Marinade and put it in a plastic bag for a few hours.

I took some medium sized potatoes and cut almost all the way through them and put onion slices in the cuts.

I put half a slice of bacon on each potato. Then I wrapped them in foil and put them in the Louisiana Grills Pellet smoker set at 450 F for 30 minutes.

I turned the heat up to 500 F and put the steak on.

I cooked it for about 7 minutes a side.

I took the steak off and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Here are the potatoes unwrapped.

We like our steak served in slices.

Here it is plated.

The Verdict

This may not be fancy but it sure is good!

Disco nice job on the meal,it all looks good. That is the best way to serve steak, cut only what you need off of it.I like the Potato idea. Point for that

Looks like a simple but very tasty meal, Disco...nicely done!  I love that potato prep idea...it gave my one of those, "why didn't I think of that?" moments!  I'll definitely be trying those soon.

Point for putting another idea on my "to do" list!

Thanks, Richie. Sadly, SWMBO and I don't eat as much steak at a sitting as we used to so we slice it. Thanks for the point!

Going to have to try those potatoes. Thanks for the idea.
Thanks, Bill. They do give the potatoes a bit more taste.

I appreciate the point, Red. This is one of the Mrs favourite ways to have potatoes.

How do you know your beef is smoked to perfection? When you can't find the boundary between the smoke ring and the medium rare cooked core.

Looks great I'm doing the those taters soon, but I'm a little younger then you and will add another strip of bacon!:biggrin

Thanks, b-one. You young guys have it so soft. I remember when I had to walk 5 miles to school in the snow and it was uphill both ways.
