Anyone Used CryoVac sealed Pork?

I bought some pork yesterday from the store sealed by cryovac, however when I took it out the freezer this morning and let it thaw it smelled funny but looked normal. I typically just figure its bad, but I have never heard of this CryoVac before and wondered if this process is what is adding the smell.

This is a common occurrence with cryo meat. It has something to do with gases being trapped. Most times you can just rinse the meat with some
Cold water, dry it and let it sit for a few minutes on the counter and the smell will dissapate. It's a quite rank smell so I understand your thinking it's gone bad right away but you should be ok. If the smell doesn't dissapate than it may indeed be spoiled.

I agree with that 100%.

 

I might add, when pork goes bad, you generally know it.  It's not as bad as chicken that's bad, but it will turn your guts upside down

Most all pork and beef going to restaurants and grocery stores comes in Cryo-Vac packed. They get repackaged after cutting into smaller portions for sale to customers. As stated above, Off smell is normal and dissipates within a minute or two. Spoiled never goes away and even if washed, still smells the same. The nose, knows when meat is bad...JJ
