This is my first post and my first smoker! picked this up for $30 its just paint and bondo so far. I was thinking electric heating element and a cold smoke generator. just thought I would post and get some advice before I dig

into the conversion.

Subscribing!  I have the same fridge and have been communicating with Dennis about doing The Pellet Pro conversion on mine.

Hurry up and get it done so I can learn from your success/mistakes!

Got the door gutted and found a nice painted sheet of metal to replace the plastic, decided I didn't like the idea of paint inside so took the metal off and burnt it in a pile of pallets. It warped so bad ! Soo I did what any red blooded male would do .... Took a ride on smooth drum compactor from work and ran it over a few times [emoji]128518[/emoji] Doesn't look too bad

Does the door fit properly now ?? If not, I have a remedy..... Dave
Don't know yet, the rope is coming in the mail tomorrow, and we will see. But it seems to close ok still latches

Though I am wondering if anybody has a suggestion on mounting the fire rope. Should I Put it on the door or the flashing around the box?

If the gap is not exactly the same, all around the door..... use the crossed strings method described below.....,

Using the method above, with the interior door skin removed, will put the door in "plane" so when the skin is reattached, the door gap will be equal all around.... This is a very important step so the door will seal perfectly....

Can anybody tell me if there is a reason not to use an aluminum pan as my chip pan? Is aluminum toxic?

I use aluminum all the time for cooking. Can't imagine a problem. Aluminum foil gets used all the time.
