Pellet Storage

Just got a fresh batch of new pellets from Todd. wondering if anyone vac seals their pellets....I have seen other methods on here but not seen anyone post about vacuum sealing. I think the zip lock type develop pinholes. My pellets absorb moisture apparently.

Thanx

I've never had any problems with Todd's pellets after storage in his stock ziplok bags.  Before I fire up the smoke generator I run my torch all over the AMNPS or AMNTS to lightly warm up and dry the pellets.  I then apply the big heat at one end.

I haven't had any trouble with the pellets either while new.  After some time they won't stay lit. Not blaming anyone just wanting to know If anyone has tried this. I went ahead and packed several 5# bags. We will see.I kept them in an attached garage before, very humid here, Love the way they burn when "new".

Again,

You might need to run a torch lightly along the row of pellets, on all sides and then fire up the end.   I have some pretty well aged pellets and because of this method, I've yet to have any issues keeping them lit.

Thanks cmayna....

2 burns so far and no issues. I will do that. I have also added this to my list in a doc saved on my computer from suggestions I have found from others on this site. I love my amzn smoker again!

ps

I am using the heat gun now instead of torch to lite my pellets...works better for me

I tend to nuke my pellets for about a minute to pull out any moisture they collected. But I don't use a torch to light them, if I used a torch I would go with cmayna's trick. And they get too hot to handle, but not near burning temps.
