There is rain in the forecast on thanksgiving day and I was planning on smoking my turkey. I have a offset side smoker. Should I just cook my turkey in the oven? Any advice?

I went to Walmart and bought a $40 pop-up canopy that I placed over my smoker for tomorrow's cook.  We are looking at an all day rain up here too.

I thought about the pop up this morning. I really didn't want to get one. It's probably the best thing though. Thanks for the advice. I think what I'll do is play it by ear and hope it doesn't rain. If rain falls and my smoker gets wet will it prolong my cook?

Slade, I've forgotten where you are. If its a cold rain, yes it will add time. On my cooker, a normal rain will just hit and steam off.

Thanks Joe. It shouldn't be very cold. I think I'll just give it a shot. Plus my pop said he MIGHT just bring a canopy when he comes over(he's convinced it will not rain). I'll post pics tomorrow...or take them at least and post them when I get a chance.

I'll post some pics. I only took the beginning pics. My Ol lady and sister took the end result so I'll wait till I get the pics from them so I can post them.
