Where have you found the best deals on meat in Iowa?

Also, when do you find the best deal, best sales?

Thanks
Sort of a specialty topic, but I was looking for a pork belly with Rhine still on it and Fareway can order them but it can take two weeks to get. They are 3.49lb at approx 13lbs a slab. Just an FYI for those of you looking to smoke some pork belly here in local central Iowa.

There is a specialty meat shop that has opened in the "Old Downtown" area of Waukee. Ya might want to look there. I'm headed that way towards the spring, only just because my freezers are full now!

I almost always get meat from Costco in West Des Moines. My older son gets meat from Fareway. We both like what we get but I need to watch for Fareway advertisements becuse I know their products are good and their sale prices can be very good. I don't care much for Hy-Vee but I know other people like their stuff. I should watch for their advertisements too.

Digging up bones? LOL
Fareway has a new store in Beaverdale now. They have seperate weekly specials that the other stores don't. I find Fareway very easy to work with and the little store may not have everything because of this locations size but they pack a whole lot in there! The meat and cheese counter is what you would expect from Fareway.

I just recently got back on this site after a few years so yeah, I guess I am and I'm not one bit ashamed to do it. :)

Looks like very little activity here so I thought why not, I live in Iowa.

I don't know if I ever posted to this group in the past but I probably will be checking here pretty often.

Iowa is pretty quiet lol! I usually go to Fareway... especially for meat. I don't always have the ability to walk past meat counter, even if I don't need anything!

I'm rarely in a Fareway but when I am I always check out the meats in the butcher area.

I checked with my son earlier today and he said he likes Fareway better than Costco for meats. I rarely make it to Costco since the pandemic began but there's a Fareway closer to me that I need to begin visiting regularly.

There's another Fareway about twice as far away that has a pressure smoker. They make killer chicken wings, IMHO. I need to get over there too. Three pounds of those wings never lasted long around here. I haven't bought any for years.

I believe they have pork butts on sale for $1.4?/pound. I'm thinking they will not be a heritage breed of Duroc but maybe. I have not gone to the Beaverdale store yet to see. Thinking I'll get one if not and 2 if so! I want Porker size if they do!!

Costco has the best prices on "Prime" grade beef, and some really high quality seafood. For choice beef or pork I shop Fareway's Sales.

The Iowa presence use to be HUGE on here, we have faded a bit.
Our Fareway is doing better on sales, not limiting how much you can buy.
Sam's is still my go to for beef, they beat the Ankeny Costco on prices. I'm still not a fan of HyVee, especially their pumped pork.. And my freezer is full, so sales suck right now...

Went to The Greater Des Moines Metropolitan Area ( :D ) today and just got home a few minutes ago. Last stop while I was there was Costco. Have beef prices dropped or is my memory failing me? I saw quite a bit of good looking beef cuts around $5.99 a pound. I thought they had been significantly higher not long ago.
