Pork,

I looked through your images again today.  I really like that rear jack idea, how much is a flat bottom crank jack like that?

I may do something like that or maybe a swing out style like the ones they use on a pop-up camper for rear stability.

When I mounted my FB, I changed the design from a round tank to a square box made of 1/4" plate and forgot to adjust

my placement for the added tail weight.  Now I am looking to find a way to add nose weight without the ugly visuals.

Currently I am using an old rotor from my Excursion, tossed on the nose of the trailer.  It keeps it from tilting, but it's ugly.

I think the rear jack will fix that for me.  Though I built mine on a trailer, it is mainly for the ease of moving it around the

yard, not for towing to places.

Thanks!

Hello Pete, thank you for the link for the calculator. I will check that out for sure.

PCJack,

The jack is just a standard 2000lb sidewind trailer jack. The bulldog brand jacks are a bit more $$ but I have had good service with them on my heavy equipment trailers. They are way over kill but run between $45-$60 depending on where you buy them.

Hey Woody,
I can't wait to see some more qview on your awsome smoker.

I'll be hitting it hard again tomorrow, I will try and take some more pics as I go. Thank you all for checking out my build

Well I made some more progress yesterday. I finished framing out the tank and started on the reverse flow plate. I got the plate fully welded in and the drain installed. There is a very slight angle toward the drain so everything flows away from the fire box. Then it was on to the CC door. Everything is tacked togeather and still needs to be fully welded but it's starting to look like something lol

Nice choice on the hinges, these are the same ones I used on mine. They're great! I do like how you flipped them over to match your door. I heated and rolled mine to match my door curve.

Well made some more progress today. I got the door all welded up as well as the whole tank addition. I made a mount for the door clamp/ locking traveling gizmo for when I'm going down the road.

All of the slides are welded in(I still need to mount the rack stops on the end. I also cut the flap for the cc/ warming box and got that working.

Clamp is mounted on the warming box and the roof is fully welded on as well. Enough babbling here are the pics

Here is the travel lock

Well I have been rolling, I have my first cook on the 21st and I have been crunching to get it to where I can Atleast cook on it. Fired it up today and ran it up to 400 degrees to burn everything off. I will season it later this week. I towed it to the venue and it did alright. I need to make some trailer mods next.

Stay tuned for q view

Looking good, can't wait to see some of your Q!  I have been running mine every weekend since completing it enough to cook on.  Made 3 racks of ribs and bunch of Jamaican Jerk chicken wings on it this past weekend.  This weekend is a friend's birthday party on Saturday as well my daughter's engagement party on Sunday.  Love my new smoker, hope you end up as happy with yours as I did with mine!

Thanks woodyg and pcjack

Hey Woody sorry for the delay. Temps held up pretty good. Kept it around 225-250 even with the 30mph winds. It was going through 2 oak spits and hour so not too bad on fuel.

Whew, it's been a crazy weekend with the Halloween party. First a big thanks to everyone on this board for all of the knowledge and builds that have been posted over the years. This forum is what inspired me to take on this project and really get on the smoking band wagon. Here are some better Bbq pics and some party shots. Stay tuned for more qview and trailer mods
