So I saved up my penny's for awhile and bought me a Rec Tec 680 pellet smoker. Never smoked before except cigars. I love bbqing I just smoked a Tri tip my very first piece of meat smoked and I am happy with the way it came out. I will definitely invest in a wireless thermometer and digital quick thermometer. I used an old school prove that takes some time to read what the IT is.

Wow, looks really good. Did you do anything specific with it or did you just give it rub and through it on the smoker? How long time did it take and what IT, 195 or so?

I used brown mustard and oak ridge bbq seasoning for the rub.. Cooked till IT was 145. Then j wrapped in foil. Wrapped that in towel and threw it in an empty cooler for about 30 minutes. Everyone loved it!!!

I think 195 would be to high for me with Tri tip.. I stuck to 145 since that's what I used when I would throw it on my gas grill figured smoker would be the same.
