Away from the FB for sure. Some have the plate designed where it drains to the center into a valve, and others have it angle towards the opposite end as the FB.
The big reason for away from the FB is to prevent a large build up of grease turning into a BIG grease fire. Those never end well.
Hmmm....Devils advocate here. Mine is angled away from the FB. Always cook with the drain valve open...and have yet to see a single drip of grease. I end up scraping the RF plate when it is warming up.
With it sitting with the plate angled away from the FB the side opposite the FB is 15* cooler than the center. Recently discovered that if I pick the nose up some the temperature equals out. So mine like having the RF plate angled towards the firebox. When I welded it in the CC I only put about 3/8" of drop on it.
