Evenin' ladies and gents,
My name is Richard, and I've only recently stumbled upon this forum. I've been grilling for years, but I just purchased my first smoker a few days ago and smoked my first brisket today. The tips I found on this website helped me avoid quite a few rookie mistakes, although I still made plenty of those anyway. I went with a Masterbuilt Pro Dual Fuel smoker, as it seemed to be a pretty well liked option for newbies on this forum. I'm very happy with the results, given that it was my first try:
Obviously I still need to read up on selecting the different cuts, trimming them, and slicing them, but for a first attempt it wasn't terrible (you pros might think otherwise).
I currently live in Georgetown, TX with my wife, rottweiler, and chihuahua. We moved here from Wichita, KS, and so far it has been a wonderful experience. I'm an Oklahoma State grad (go 'Pokes!) and she is a Kansas State grad, so it makes for interesting Saturdays around the house.
A sincere thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum. The wealth of knowledge here is awesome! I will be smoking a ham and deep frying a turkey this year for Thanksgiving, with family and friends coming in from California. My goal is to show them what food should really taste like while they're here so that they'll forever be disappointed upon their return.
