Curing a Bone less shoulder?

I've wanted to do a ham, but the fear of not getting the cure around the bone properly has me skittish. Seen a boneless roast in a mesh bag the other day, and it got me thinking about using that for a ham. Dont remember what cut it was, but I'm going back to the store later today.

So wanted to ask here before I go by something, can I cure a boneless shoulder, butt for ham? Do I keep it in the mesh while in the brine? Will I still need to inject?

Thanks for any info..

you can cure a boneless piece for ham,i personally would inject it anyway if it's pretty thick,i would keep it in the mesh it's probably holding it together, i wouldn't be skittish about a bone in it,just inject all along the bone then cure the roast for the recommended time,i think it's a day per 1/4 inch plus 2 days, that what i go by using pop's brine, not sure what cure method your using i never used a dry cure so i'm not sure if that is different,i'm sure some of the pro's will help you with that or look it up on the search on top of page , good luck

I will definitely use a wet brine like pops for the ham. I think I'm gonna try one of these boneless cuts first. Cost alot less than a normal cut for ham, so if I mess it up, I won't be out much money.

Get a Boston Butt, Cure it, and make Buckboard Bacon out of it.

Or Split it in two & make half of it Buckboard Bacon, and the other half into Pulled Butt Ham:

Here's a Step by Step showing How:
