Another Friday night and wondering what to make for dinner... :rolleyes:

 

 

Being my gf's birthday is coming up this later this month, I planned a nice steak dinner for our Friday night.

 

 

 

Dry Aged Rib Steak

 

Picked up a 2"+ thick, trimmed, dry aged rib steak from our local butcher...

 

 

 

 

...a drizzle of evoo, fresh grated garlic, salt and fresh cracked black pepper to let the beef flavor be the star... :yahoo:

 

...let it absorb the flavors while making preparations for the rest of the meal...

Mushrooms Sauteed with Merlot Wine

 

 

 

...grilling sliced onions until caramelized to be used in a sauteed mushroom side dish...

 

  

 

    

 

 

 

...little evoo to lube the pan...

 

  

 

 

 

...the grilled, caramelized onions and fine chopped garlic added into mushroom saute...

 

  

 

 

 

...lastly, add a splash of merlot wine to deglaze the pan...

Since man, nor woman, can live on meat alone... :icon_eek:

 

 

 

Baked Potatoes with Butter, Fresh Chives and Sour Cream

 

...as prepared by Chef Mike(rowave)... :439:

 

 

I always have a pot on my deck with chives growing...

 

...this is one of the few plants the local flora and fauna doesn't eat for some reason or another... :confused:

 

  

 

 

 

...quick trim with a pair of kitchen shears...

 

...snipped into small pieces...

 

  

 

 

 

 

...stir a handful into organic sour cream and let the flavors marry...

 

  

 

 

 

 

...with the help of Chef Mike(rowave) and his amazing time machine...

You have to know, my gf is the oldest of 7 brothers and sisters...

Another veggie side dish...

 

 

Grilled Zucchini

 

 

One of the easiest veggies to prepare on my kettle...

 

...simply clean, trim the ends and cut in half...

 

 

 

 

...drizzle with evoo, some fresh grated garlic, salt and fresh cracked black pepper...

 

 

 

 

...place on the kettle with indirect heat...

 

 

 

 

...and let the kettle do its magic...

Another step in our Friday Date Night dinner... :biggrin:

 

 

 

Merlot Reduction Glaze

 

 

This is to add an additional layer of flavor to our dry aged rib steak... 241.png

 

 

 

In a small sauce pan...

 

...add some fine chopped garlic, onion and a good merlot wine...

 

 

 

 

...reduce by 75-80%, until a thin syrup consistency...

 

  e

 

 

 

...drizzle over the steak after resting...
