55 gallon drum firebox

I am starting to build a smoker from a 250 gallon oil tank. Having trouble finding materials to build the firebox. Was thinking about using a 55 gallon drum but am afraid of to much heat loss. Can anyone tell me if they have done this or maybe some other suggestions?

Here's one my Son built 5 years ago with a 275 Gallon Tank---He used Steel plate:

Thanks Bear. My problem is getting my hands on the sheet metal. Not many resources available near me.

I built a double bsrrel smoker using 2 55-gal drums. )One is used as the fire box. I lined the bottom with fire bricks and laid a grate across. The door was made by Vogelzang.

Cool,

A Buddy of mine has something similar to that, but he uses his for heat.
