Beer Can Burgers w/ Q-View

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Had some friends over for the game today, and decided what better way to watch football than with some beers and beer-can burgers! I made 2 different kinds of burgers:

Type 1 - Philly Cheese Steak Stuffed Burger:

- Aged Cheddar

- Peppadew Cheese

- Pan-seared steak tips

- Sauteed Peppers & Onions

Type 2 - Jalepeno Bacon Stuffed Burger:

- Pepper Jack Cheese

- Buffalo Wing Cheese (Yancy's Fancy Brand)

- Diced Jalepenos

- Bacon

So I cooked up the steak, bacon, and onions/peppers first. Made up 8 gigantic meat balls (prolly 3/4lb each) and molded them around the cans, bacon-wrapped of course. Then began stuffing them. I layered it from bottom to top Shredded Cheese, Fillers, Shredded Cheese, Fillers, 3 Blocks of Cheese.

I threw some salt and pepper on there, and put them in the smoker at about 300 degrees with Hickory wood pellets in the AMNPS. Here they are about an hour into it:

MAN was I hungry after opening the smoker and seeing that. About another hour later and these babies were done, and my god they were the best burgers I've ever had in my life. My only regret was using thick-cut bacon instead of regular cut. The bacon didn't crisp up enough. Everyone was raving about them nonetheless, and I even have a couple extra to heat up for tomorrow thumb1%20copy.gif Here's the pics of the finished products:

All Bunned Up!

Aaaaand last but not least, the cut shot! A lot of work went into preparing these, but it was sooo worth it!

OH heck yeah! I tried burgers on the smoker recently, stuffed with a jalapeño havarti cheese and wrapped criss cross with regular cut bacon. Brushed with Worcestershire sauce and sprinkled some bbq rub I picked up at Trader Joes. Smoked at about 275 on my CCSV with hickory until 170 IT. Served on a pretzel roll.... If you've never done burgers on the smoker you should!

Haha that's awesome! Never would have thought of that. Man one thing I learned today about these is that cleaning up after is rough! I've never had anything dirty up my smoker as much as that did.

Did it spatter all over the walls, or just make a hella mess on the racks?   I put parchment paper on my racks when doing stuffed burgers and clean up is a dream.    But maybe with all that cheese you got more side spatter.

They look awesome Thumbs Up. It takes a lot for a photo to make my mouth water these days and they certainly did.

That looks awesome.  I still have not done this.  Maybe it's time.

Awesome smoke. I'd like to see someone get their mouth around one of those.  LOL.  Try laying the bacon between 2 sheets of wax paper and using a rolling pin--you can easily double the length and cut the thickness way down.  I've made shot glass burgers, but never beer can burgers--yours will hold a lot more fillings.
