I'm OKTed. and I live about 70 miles NE of Jeff in Ketchum, OK on the banks of Grand Lake. Ketchum is about halfway between Tulsa and Joplin. My shirt-tail cousin from Sand Springs (my home town) got me involved in smoking meat about a month ago. I own a MasterBuilt 30" electric smoker. Best meal smoked so far is St. Louis ribs. Couldn't believe how tender and great tasting! Tried Jeff's maple smoked turkey last weekend. My iGrill mini did not show up on time so, erring on the side of caution, I cooked the turkey a bit too long, making it a bit dry. First attempt at smoking was half of a brisket. Fell asleep and failed to wrap it on time. Turned out plenty tender with lots of smoke flavor, but too dry. I'm gonna keep at it until all my dishes turn out as good as those ribs! At least I learn something from every attempt.

As you can see from my profile, I collect & restore classic cars and pre-WWII radios. My car collection includes a 1937 V-12 Packard five-passenger touring sedan, a 1939 LaSalle, and a 1935 Auburn boattail Speedster built by Glenn Pray of Broken Arrow, OK. My radios number over 200.

And I am quite chatty.

OKTed, welcome to SMF!  Sounds like you're having a ball perfecting your techniques and results.  Your iGrill will help with those results a lot because smoking to internal temp really makes a difference.

Great hobbies.  And we like chatty!

Have fun!

Sorry I'm a little late
