Well I thought I was super prepared to start my pork butt at 6:30am...slathered it in mustard and applied the rub..stored overnight..had all my equipment in shed ready to go..wake up everything is perfect..about to start fire..grab the maverick..hmmm dead batteries!

Search the entire house for that silly lil screwdriver needed, open it up..wait..no aaa batteries?? haha..yep lowes run at 7am..oh well such is life right

3 hours in now and IT is about 158 and smoker running at about 240..so far so good

I wouldn't call that a horrible start. Look at it this way, it's one less disaster to worry about later. Pork looks good, can't wait to see the final product.

That is true, not like the meat fell on the floor or in the yard..now that is a real horrible start.  Odd it is almost done already only 5.5 hours in..never really hit the stall, just for 45 min or so

Here it is at 192 IT..

That's my one complaint about the Maverick. Why does the receiving part have an easy-opening cover, but the sender has to have those dang tiny screws???

Good looking pulled pork, btw.

Nice pulled pork!  As for the battery situation...I still have "the look" imprinted on my brain when i took the batteries out of my daughters electronic thingamajig.  I "needed" them more than she did!  LOL

Thanks all!! Came out nice and tender and juicy..first attempt at not foiling either, was quite happy with the entire process
