Has anyone ever taken their wsm 22.5 on a road trip? Im driving from arizona to michigan for leave for 30 days. Were having my daughters bday and im going to smoke meat for the party. I have an 07 tundra 5.7L. Just wondering how othee ppl have done this. I was thinking about ratcheting it standing up in bed of truck. But wasnt sure if the ratchet would bend the lid out of round if to tight? Any ideas? Thanks guys. Ut needs to be atanding because i will have my fishing kayak and other stuff in back.

How about buying something to put it in a box, large trash can to protect your WSM and that can take the abuse. Good luck with the trip sounds like a long haul.

I've transported my 18.5" model while camping in the trailer a couple of times.  I would put it in the back of the truck bed (which does have a Leer cover).  The way it was placed in there with chairs and other stuff I did not need to tie it down though.

Competition teams do it all the time. Check out Jim Minion's RV. He strapped his WSM(s) down on a Hitch Hauler
