hi all,

 

about to start a brisket - show i use mustard to help the rub stick?  I use mustard for this on everything else.  not sure why I wouldnt but thought i better check.  firing it up in under an hour.

Yellow mustard works nice with no taste.I would use it lightly.

thanks man!  not sure why i questioned it at the last minute.  Ill get some pics of this cook up later.  i think its gonna be a good one.

Mustard is fine.  If out, spray in lightly with canola oil.

I'm not sure how the whole mustard thing got started but I've never seen the need for it or anything else for that matter. There has never been a chunk of meat that crossed my path that wasn't moist enough to hold the rub all by itself.

After some tests, mustard does cause a dark exterior than just plain rub. It makes sense really. The wetter the meat is the dark it gets.
