Hello all I'm very new to the smoking game but I get the concept I live in Michigan an we get all the weather. I'm looking to build a little smokehouse I'm backyard but I want to be able to set it an forget it. I'm only looking at smoking pork butts ribs an briskets but would like to be able to do fish and bacon.

First question what would be a ideal structure size I have a slab in the back where the ac unit used to sit was thinking 4-5ft tall 3foot wide 3 ft deep.

2nd question without soaking alot of money into it what would I need to get for the Heat/Smoke?

3rd would I be better off using cedar in the house construction and do I have to line the inside with a metal?

Is there any better type woods to use?

I've been reading for a few days on different builds from here an pintrest but still confused a little.
