Hello.  For a new smoker I would recommend the 57cm Weber kettle.  Ready to use form the box ( although I did add wooden handles to the dampers. ).  Can grill or smoke on the same unit.  Coated on the outside to help against rust.  Will fit in the shed.  Easy to control heat.

If you buy on of the cheaper lookalikes you will have a cheaper lookalike that will rust and require mods to control heat.  Go to your local DIY.  Raise the lid off the lookalike, then do the same with the Weber.  All your questions will be answered.  Just my opinion.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

The 57cm Weber is a great place to start. Unlike the cheaper look-alikes the Weber will last you 10 years plus and the height of the lid dome means that you can smoke larger pieces of meat. I have been smoking my Christmas turkey whole in my Webers for many years.

I was a Grillstock in Bristol last weekend and almost every competition team there has at least one Weber 57cm that they were using to produce items that were being judged.

Whatever you decide to buy let us know and we can give you some hints and tips as to how to get the most out of it.

One other consideration I thought I should mention. Smoking is all about tempertarure control. Whilst you are looking for the smoker you should consider also getting yourself a dual probe digital thermometer - something like a Maverick ET-732/733 - as this will really help your confidence with your first few smokes and will always be invaluable tool after that.
