Hello to all; Been smoking for over 20 years. Wife finally gave me her blessing to go with a new smoke house build. Had to be patient to this point as my friend is a mason and is going to lay the block for eats and beer! Going to start laying the block July 3rd.Final size will be inside dimensions of 4ft x 4ft x 8ft. It will be constructed out of rock faced concrete blocks which will be insulated so it should be a good looker when complete. I have already poured the concrete/ insulated pad at 6ft x 6ft. It will be powered by two 54,000 btu propane burners with independent controls. A 3ft steel door will serve as the entrance. Roof will be a pre poured concrete slab lifted and set in place with a john deere and loader. A stainless steel 4" dia furnace flue will be positioned through the wall just above one of the burners for feeding wood chunks to the hot plate. The other burner will be for the water bowl. The door will actually be positioned approx. 2" above the concrete so I can put approx. 2" of sand on the slab to catch any drippings that will occur. I can occasionally rake the sand between smoke sessions or replace as needed. The plenum and meat will be monitored with Maverick themo's. I will definitely post photos for all to see next week after we have the block layed.
