Hello,

I am expecting my first smoker this week and will attempt to do my first smoke this weekend. I have been wanting to try my hand at smoking meats for awhile, but just was able to get my hands on one. I will be using a Masterbuilt 30 in electric smoker. From what I understand (which is not that much) this is a great starter smoker. If I find I want to get more into it, I will probably upgrade to a nicer one.

The main reasons that I am going for the electric smoker is because I have all sorts of problems trying to maintain a fire or coals. I do not know how to man a pit in order to maintain a constant temperature. With this electric I can simply set the temperature and be good to go! This should help my anxiety levels greatly as before (just simple grilling) I had lots of that. Always worried about the temperature of the pit (either too hot or too cold). I know I have a lot to learn, but I am looking forward to learning from some people here. Perhaps you guys can help lead a newbie to BBQ heaven.

Thanks for the site,
