I have a question for you guys.  I am building my FB door and had a question about what FB dampner to use and their placement.  I have 3 round dampners I can use and I see many people make their own slide dampners.  Below I have the 3 with 2 top and 1 below moched up and below that is the inside of the FB.  The FB has a 1.5" flange around the inside of the FB to create a tight seal.  On a side note I will probably use a gasket to create good seal.

I was also thinking as an alternative to have the 2 round dampners on top and a slide on the bottom.  The top dampners can be mounted on the inside but if I use a round one on the bottom it would need to mounted on the outside.  Any way I go I will have more than enough ventilation.

I was thinking it might look kinda cool to have 2 round on the top and a slide on the bottom, it would look a little like a jack o lantern when dark out.

Thanks for your advice,

Joe

Joe remember you will need more venting on the bottom. I made the same mistake. I think I was told 20% of the venting will be on the top and 80% on the bottom. Someone who knows more will come along and tell you. But I didn't want you to start making cuts yet.

Thanks, I don't want to cut yet. I think I can make 80% if I do the slide on the bottom. I can also add 1 or more on the side as well but would like to avoid it if possible.

locovet is spot on....... 20% top.... 80% bottom will work just fine..... have the bottom air inlets below the fire grate if possible... works better....
