So far this is what ive got done. Burned, primered, bolts installed, pipe nipples still need to be installed. I also have the lid cut out. Im going to cut out a smaller bottom part of lid that fits inside of the barrel and line it with sheet metal. Also I will have a wooden colts horseshoe mounted on thE front of the smoker.

Thats gonna be the lid. I will also cut out a smaller circle that I will attach to the bottom of this lid so it fits the inside of the smoker Then line it with sheet metal to help keep the heat inside and protect the lid.

I've got a little farther along in the build. Finished a second coat of primer and 2 coats of black high temp paint.

I've tried a few different ways to make a chimney out of wood but havent found one that I liked yet. So im still working on that. Thinking of just using a 2 1/4" dowel and drilling a 1 1/4" hole threw it. Just wondering if that will be a big enough hole.

Also just finished up the charcoal basket. I found a stock pot at a flea market for $5 and I drilled a bunch of holes in it. May end up drilling more holes later.

I still need to attach the Colts Horseshoe to the lid and line the other side with sheet metal. The girlfriend has me working on a pallet bed and head board So when I get done with that I can focus more on the smoker.
