Hello everyone my name is Derek and I live in the beautiful city of Whittier CA which is about 20 minutes east of Downtown Los Angeles. I love to cook but I recently took up smoking or Barbecuing. After a lot of research I ended up buying an 18inch Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. It has worked wonderfully and I have thoroughly enjoyed smoking meat. So far I have done chicken, ribs, Tri Tip and Turkey Drumsticks. I am looking forward to learning from all of you and hopefully I will be able to improve my smoking skills.

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a warm, cloudy and humid day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Welcome from SC, Derek. I know you will enjoy this site with tons of folks who are eager to share ideas, tips, recipes or anything else that you may need. All you have to do is ask. The WSM is a great cooker to start on. It is very user friendly. Good luck and keep on smoking, Joe
