Thoughts on this as a fire basket

I'm in the beginning stages of building my own UDS and I'm currently debating on what to do for the fire basket.  I was either going to go get a MIG welder and make one on my own or have one made at a welding shop.  While figuring that out I came across this grill item and was wondering what some of the more experienced guy on here thought of using it as a fire basket.  Thanks!

approximate dimensions are 13.6 across minus the handle and 19.7 as the height.  It's going for 49.99 online so I'm wondering what you guys think.
 
It looks too small. And I wouldn't trust that the paint on it would last in a UDS.

Here is my home made basket that cost about $50 and hold enough charcoal for an all day smoke.

It is nothing more than light gauge expanded metal from HD held together with SS bolts and attached to a weber 18" grate with SS U-bolts. I used 3.5" ss bolts as the feet and an aluminum pizza tray for the ashes.
 
Thanks for the input, your setup looks nice and simple.  My one question is for your bolts that go through and hold the expanded metal together would you need any lock washers or anything or would a regular washer and bolt work just fine?

I used regular nuts with fender washers. Lock nuts wouldn't help since the plastic would melt away and you need the fender washer to hold everything in place. You could use a lock washer but I don't think it is necessary.
