l live on the coast of California about an hour south of the Oregon border. I recently bought a new house with a nice big yard and decided that it's finally time for me to fulfill my lifelong dream of building a permanent smoke house on my property. I stumbled upon this forum while researching smoke house building plans and am extremely impressed by the amount of knowledge and information available here. I'm decent on a charcoal grill and have smoked about a zillion salmon in my big chief smokers over the last several decades, but am new to smoking other kinds of meats. I'm a commercial fisherman and plan to continue smoking lots of salmon and other fish but am also quite inspired by what i have seen on this forum and am very excited to get into the meat smoking game. I'm visualizing my future full of smoked ribs, tri tips, briskets, pork butts and shoulders, turkeys, chickens, sausages, cheeses, nuts, and holy crap do those ABTs look like something I could get addicted to in a hurry. My plan is to get started with a propane smoker as soon as I can figure out which one to get and then build a stone/wood smoke house sometime within the next year or two. I'm really looking forward to becoming an active member of this group and launching full blast into lifetime of smoked meats, cold beers, and good times. Bring it on!
