I saw some posts on fried chicken and wondered how it would do on the rotisserie.  It turned out to be the best fried chicken I've ever had...at least in the top 3 in no certain order. Corn I hung on the inside lip of the cooker.

Ingredients:

Egg wash w/milk

Flour seasoned w/ Sweet Simply Marvelous and Island Spice All Purpose

Chicken thighs- skin on

Italian Bread Crumbs and Panko Crumbs

Fuel- Oak splits and Maple splits

Temp of the cook- 500*

Step 1)  dip chicken in egg wash

Step 2) dip in seasoned flour

Step 3) back in the egg wash

Step 4 dip in the panco and Italian bread crumbs

Step 5) Cook high heat... this was roti'd over a 500*  plus fire.

Looks amazing.  No butter or oil spritzed onto the chicken ?  Still fried up nice and crisp ?
No, just the natural oils from the chicken and it had a hard crispy shell....lol, couldn't believe how nice it came out. High high heat and no need to flip since it was spinning.

That's a good looking meal . Man , Boom , spot on for Color  and looks juicy. I would like to try Rotissare ,but nothing to attach one .

Novel idea and worth trying .

I am allowed a small fat fryer, but have to cook outside! Tried cooking fries in the rain with a umbrella?

I have no fryer, and no way I want something fried so bad I'd do it outside. Once in a while we fry cracker crumb chicken in a electric frying pan. I can get away with about anything in the garage.

I can't believe how well fried something can get without oil.  The natural oils that come out of something like fatty thighs is ideal for this.  Might try some drum sticks too and see how that goes.

What kind of cooker are you spinning on and how hot will it get?

Great technique, wonderful chicken and fantastic post.
Thanks Disco, just keep trying to come up with different ideas. This is gonna be a monthly or bi monthly thing with some kind of chicken parts.

Very cool setup, i'd love to have something like that...way cool!     It should get plenty hot especially using lump charcoal.     Let me know how it does on the fried chicken.  Remember to do lots of good seasoning in the flour.
