Hello Everyone,

I'm Luther and live in the Houston area in Texas. I'm 59 years old and work in IT. I've been away from cooking outdoors for awhile but watching episodes of the Barbeque Pit Boys on youtube has re-awakened the love of outdoor cooking and so I'm diving back in head-first! :D

What brought me to this particular forum was a search for the identity of my smoker which I inherited from my dad after he passed away. I'd been eyeing a Weber Performer lately and thought I should also go out and restore my old smoker as well. Well, leaving it out in the weather and not cleaning out the firebox has left me with a firebox that has rusted through... I can see daylight through it... I'd like to restore this since the main smoker box is still in good shape but I can't remember if its a Brinkmann or a Hondo?

Anyways, I've posted a new thread with photos of it in the Charcoal Smoker forum and anyone interested can read more about that there and see the photos of it I've posted. I'm looking forward to being an active member here and am thankful to find this forum.

Best regards to all,

Luther

Welcome to SMF Luther!  Glad you're here and looking forward to getting back into creating backyard edibles.  Personally I can't help you with your smoker question but I'm sure someone will be along who recognizes what you have.

Have fun!
