Seems management doesn't pay much attention to the spam.... This is the only forum, that I go to, that has this problem.... The others, usually 1 or 2 spam posts, and it's GONE....

There are algorithms that can deal with it..... Maybe someone would look into the "spam cleaning" programs....

Yea we don't do anything about it we like getting spammed and having to clean it up. Seriously how many of these other sites y'all visit have members from all over the world and as many people online at any given time as we do. Also remember the Mods and Admins aren't the techies that manage the tech stuff that would be Huddler. We do the best we can to deal with it.

I was a Moderator on another site. Fairly large car site but a drop in the bucket compared to here. Was still a PITA. Had several members that were just pot stirrers. Only person that was alowed to ban anyone was the boss, so we got to deal with a crap load of abuse. Over "there" the Boss gave in and bought the patch to stop the spammers. Still happens but very rare.
Your "job" can be a very thankless one. I, for one, deeply appreciate what you folks do....

All of the Mods and Admins can and do ban spammers yet they just keep coming if you notice it's not exactly the same name every time they make slight variations

Hey I think ya'll are doing a great job, it gets deleted pretty fast. When I see it I ignore it, I guess some members don't have any thing else to do but gripe about spammers, hey lighten up  our mod's and admin's always take care of it.

I hope nobody thinks i'm griping because i wasn't.....I was pointing out the obvious because it's gotten insane lately, especially this morning when i posted this.

I don't know what it takes to battle it but not for one second that I thought the staff was slacking.     Do I hope someone finds a better solution to rid the forum of that crap....YES BIG TIME!    It's annoying as all get out.

Staff thanks for what you do but I do hope a better software solution exist and you find it.

I'll add my 2 cents for what it's worth, I have said this before but will say again.... I personally think the mods & admin on this site are awesome. They do the best they can to keep the site clean. You'd honestly think spammers would have something better to do with their time other than being a pain in the butt.... Bet their fam is proud that they are putting that degree to good use !

Like Piney said.

Seems like i ban and delete 10 a day. Huddler catches these spam posts and sends the Admins and mods emails.

Gerald, morning.... I feel the mods time is being wasted deleting spam posts, when there are good algorithms to curb the spam... That's all I was saying.... My post was not to slam the mods.... If you took it that way, I apologize... I know how much effort mods put into this forum, to make it what it is....

Dave,

This site runs on the Huddler platform which is different than most other forum softwares.  From what I understand, Huddler controls/handles everything on the back end.   You can't just add in an anti-spam module or solution like you could with Vbulletin or some other forum software that is under your control.

The car site I mentioned uses Vbulletin. It still gets hit....but no where near as bad as here. What do the spammers get out of bombing sites like this? Talk about childish....

Yeah, sites on other platforms have a variety of tools at their disposal.  I've looked around trying to find some kind of config/settings documentation for Huddler and haven't found squat.  Have seen discussions similar on other sites that use the Huddler platform.  Seems that many of them are being hit with the same kind of thing.  The other sites are fighting it the same way as here, with Mods going in and banning/deleting accts after the fact.

As for why they do it, could be just to get people to click links (referral revenue), or might be worse, stealing personal information (credit cards).
