Well here goes nothing......

I have made a fridge smoker before and it worked really great until that one saturday afternoon when smoke was rolling out of the garage. I didn't get a small piece of plastic out and it caught fire and off to the scrap it went.

I really liked the fridge smoker because of the way I set it up. I am going to set it up pretty much the same way...less the plastic. Ha

This will take a little while but I will try to post pics along the way.

Here is what is done so far.

I have removed ALL the plastic and installed casters on the base. I will be bending some metal to wrap the door and pan the inside of the front door. Picking up metal tomorrow for Sunday work.

I also have built a so called Stumps smoker and mounted it to the side. This is that same heat source that I used on my other fridge. I controlled it with a Stoker set up but it has since died and I'm not going to spend the money to replace it.

Instead I have purchased two PID contrlers off ebay (TA4-SNR). I will be using one to control the fan for the heat source and the other to monitor the meat temp. both will audible alarms. One alarm for over temp and one alarm for when the meat temp is reached.

I will try to post as I move forward.

If anyone would like to give some input please do as I like to hear what other think..Doesn't mean I will use it but it might help others in their builds.

Also, if you want to see something on this build tell me and I will try to post pics.

Thanks Fella's

Well today was a little busy but, I got a little done on the smoker.

I also have received one of the PID controllers and waiting on the second. Guess I will need to start a drawing of the wiring.

Metal laid out

Paned the inside of the door

High temp silicone for the door seal to attach to

Door seal installed

Close up of door seal

Front of cabinet wrapped with aluminum

Close up of cabinet wrap

Door set. Waiting for silicone to dry. Will need to shim out door. Seal is pretty thick.

More to come.

I for one appreciate the info, unfortunately, I would have no suggestions, only questions. Hate to ask idiot type of questions, but now know what the lack of participation is.

The inside skin is aluminum vs Stainless steel? What's the thickness you used?

Not that familiar with a stumps but I'm guessing that's a charcoal chute? If so the fire remains in the bottom of the chute?

Its a great looking smoker, Enjoyed the updates , thanks Cowboy!

I haven't seen a Stumps setup before. Interested to see the inside of the fore box on the bottom, size of the valve and kind of fan for the stoker.
