Joe here, 100% n00b.  I originally joined for info on building a UDS and still plan on doing that, but am now wondering if I should start small with a mini WSM

Either way I'll keep everybody up in the appropriate forum - thanks all for taking the time to be here and help us out!

Joe

I don't have experience with either, but would like to welcome you to the forum! Lots of folks here have UDS and WSM smokers. I'm sure they'll be along shortly. Happy smokin', David.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a nice sunny and warm day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Gary

Welcome to the board! Get the WSM anyway because it will be useful - plus you can learn some lessons about what you would change about it, before you take on the UDS build.

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...

I have a UDS as well as other smokers and love it. It does use a lot of fuel.

Depending on how many your going to be smoking for as to a Mini or something larger.
Happy smoken.
David

Welcome to SMF! :welcome:
We're glad to have you here. The search bar at the top is your most valuable resource here. This forum has been around for over ten years, so there is a good chance that any questions you may have, have already been answered (they may have 10 different answers, but you'll get an instant response non the less).
Please be sure to post your smokes along with your process and recipes. We will be glad to help you along the way and we may also learn something new ourselves in the process. Also, don't forget the very important Q view! (We're mad for pics on here [emoji]128513[/emoji])
Always remember to have fun because it's not fun if you have to work at it. Thanks for joining,
- Ryan

Welcome from North Georgia!  Please go over to the Groups section and join our new "Georgia Smokers" group.  Lots of great folks across the nation with excellent advice.  The mini WSM is an EXCELLENT creation.  Rock solid temps and can turn out some amazing product.  Check out the other forum sections that focus on the mini and see the proof for yourself, good stuff.  Have fun with and again, welcome to the forums.  God bless and good luck, my friend.
