My new wine barrel pellets keep going out. So I loaded some of them into the chip tray via the loader and viola! Improvise and overcome!
Just as some woods are more dense that others, that wood used to make the pellet is also more dense. Some woods are harder to start and maintain without experience. But folks here will readily help you figure out which is which. Then you can mix with less dense woods to make a better easier to use smoke.
Yeah, as Foam explained it, not a good idea, but it worked in a pinch. I did have an initial flare up with tons of smoke billowing out. Had to open the smoker door to let the excess smoke out til it settled down, then it looked like the usual MES smoke after that. I'm thinking I didn't dry the pellets out well before the smoke was the problem. Need to do a dry run with them in the AMZN to figure it out.
