Hopefully these pictures load right. Getting 5x10x1/4 laser cut hopefully by the weekend so we can assemble the firebox. Then we've got to make some decisions on the trailer. Them time to open the tank up

Pictures?

Don't sweat it, pictures are just an added bonus. but not our reason for being here.

Great score on the laser cut sheet BTW!
Yeah I cant get the stupid pics to load. Yeah we scored big time on the laser cut. My brother is a teacher and he's done with school next week so this project should come along much quicker once he's out of school.

Yeah it's turning into a family project which is pretty cool. I've done most of the math/planning/research and my brother and I are splitting $$$. He will do a good portion of fab cause I'm not real handy with a plasma cutter or welder. And we're just going to tack everything then our dad that scored us the laser cut sheet has been a welder for 40 years is going to come in and give us some professional quality welds to finish everything up. I just hope everything comes together quickly once school is out. we want to do a hog on it June 12/13 cause we have family coming from out of state.

Here's the pics I tried posting the other day. I know it's not much but it's something. sent the pdf of the cuts to get done today so hopefully we have all our FB material, Vent covers, and RF plate back by the weekend.

Main thing, Take your time, Check, recheck and check again, Look at it and make sure before you weld it solid.  Sounds like a great plan  I'll be watching

Good Luck

Gary

Looks like you have a great plan, I would almost drive there just to watch your Dad weld! I love watching a real pro weld, you can always learn a few new tricks. Give him a shady place to work, I spent a summer welding on a boat and it makes for a long hot day if you can't get under some shade.

Yeah I know summers are always rough on him. More so with every year. I'll post more pics as soon as we get the pieces back and begin assembling the FB and cutting the tank.

sorry everyone, quick question that's not related to this build but I've only used small charcoal and electric smokers. I keep seeing people talking about seasoned wood. What exactly is this and what exactly is the process of seasoning wood. I know it doesn't mean sprinkling some McCormicks season all and garlic salt on it. lol

Seasoned Wood is aged wood.   If you use Green Wood (freshly Cut) it imparts a strong bitter taste. After you have your wood split and stacked it needs to sit (Either covered or in a wood shed) for at least 9 to 12 months. This will give you a nice mellow flavor.

Gotcha I figured it was something along those lines.

Hey Rib, Good to hear from you. I was wondering the other day how you were doing. Staying busy ?
