Hi   Im not exactly new to smoking but at the present time i do not have a smoker. In the past i have used 55 gal drums and some fashioned after an old time smoke house. My latest smoker was a converted gas stove which worked great untill I set in on fire one thanksgiving morning. Luckily this was before i put the turkey in it. I have looked at several commercial smokers but have always been disappointed in the size and build quality. So i am in need of a project and have decided to build my own. I prefer electric and have several plans rolling around in my mind. But am certainly willing to listen to any suggestions or pitfalls that may be waiting down the road. I have also decided to build a smoke generator rather than having a fire inside my smoker. memories of my old gas stove. Looking forward to being part of  forum devoted to a great hobby involving food and smoke.

Welcome to SMF! :welcome:
We're glad to have you here. The search bar at the top is your best friend. This forum has been around for over ten years, so there is a good chance that any questions you may have, have already been answered (they may have 10 different answers, but you'll get an instant response non the less).
Please be sure to post your smokes along with your process and recipes. We will be glad to help you along the way and we may also learn something new ourselves in the process. Also, don't forget the very important Q view! (We're mad for pics on here [emoji]128513[/emoji])
Always remember to have fun because it's not fun if you have to work at it. Thanks for joining,
