Thanks D, it turned out great for sure! I have never had a short butt smoke my first one we had my parents over for and we ate about 9 pm they almost left as we were planning around 5-6 range :biggrin: most of the pork outside some Sammies and some for my mom will be frozen if I don't blow up the vacuum sealer in the process:drool.
 
Personally I just put it on the meat it always seems to stick well. If I used one it would be light oil. Good luck and post us pics of your smoke!
