I am a new member from the gulf side of Florida. I started smoking about 7 years ago using my Weber grill and a couple of smoke boxes. My Weber recently turned into an Improvised Explosive Device, so I decided to get a new grill. Was looking around for grill reviews and stumbled upon SMF through search results. Started looking here at dedicated smokers and decided to get a smoker instead. The Weber did a pretty good job given that it was a grill but it was not sealed at all so I went through a lot of wood and time and tending. Am happy to have a dedicated smoker now and initial results have been fantastic. Did my first smoke on a Boston butt and other than it taking a really long time, it came out great.

Wood smoke is my 2nd favorite smoke behind cigar smoke, so hopefully we have some other "dual smokers" on here.

Looking forward to participating here. I am thinking about smoking some short ribs this weekend, which I have never done before; if anyone has any tips or recipes for short ribs I would be interested in hearing them.

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a cloudy and warm day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Welcome to the forum Smoke! I haven't tried short ribs yet, but if you type it into the search bar above you'll get a lot of results. And maybe someone who has done them will stop by and point you in the right direction. Have fun with your smoke and post pics so we can enjoy it too! Happy smokin', David.
