What about the lid?

Thread Starter

As many of you have seen over the last couple months, I use my mini at least once per weekend if not more and I have been sort of battling an annoyance.  Does anyone have a mod or something to keep the lid of their mini?  I have to use something nearby to sit it on until I've finished whatever I'm doing in my mini.  I wondered if anyone had came up with a hinge or containment system to hold/hang the lid on.  Just a thought...let me know what you guys think

i hear you

i have the 13 inch wsm and the lid is always annoying

i also have a kettle and a gas grill so the lids usually go on whatever isn't being used

a cool thing that i saw somewhere (probably here) was putting a boom pole off your fence and sliding the lid onto a hook at the end of it

hope this helps

Simple "L" or "U" shaped hooks either attached to the lid (inside or out) or attached to the pot can be used for hanging the lid from the pot.

To the best of my knowledge all weber kettles have an L shaped hook to hang on the side of the kettle.

The hook is right were the vent is so its easy to line it up and hang it on the side of the kettle!

I'm not sure how you'd attach this to a smokey joe lid but I'd be interested if you do...

Here's what I did. Keep a piece of scrap from the bottom of the tamale pot, or cut a strip from the original pot lid, fold it for thickness and hammer it flat. Smooth the edges, bend I to a hook, and one ss bolt to hold in to the lid. Works great. Just like the lid hook on a full size weber kettle.
