New Smoker & Team Logo,... Almost Ready!

Been a little while since I posted, been REAL BUSY!  A few steps closer to competing in NC. (and maybe SC., GA, & TN.)  Joined the KCBS and the NCBS.  The KCBS Team name is Bubba G's Smokin' Butts Barbecue Team.  Ergo the 1st photo of our logo.




Check out the pics and feel free to comment.  The smoker is a A-1 Competition Smoker with warming box, fryer, and wood storage.  It's made by Custom Pits & Fabrication out of Watkinsville, GA.

Looks Great!  Butt (pun!) you may want to rethink your name.  Since July 2013, Beef and Pork Councils have officially changed the names of products to be more in line with recognizable beef nomenclature; i.e.:


and to avoid confusion with a hog's rump (hind leg of pork, or fresh ham), has eliminated the term butt.  The origin of the term 'butt' refers to Colonial times when less desirable cuts of pork were shipped to the lower, Southern, Colonies in big barrels, or "butts".  Mainly shoulders, arm shoulders and bellies.  So, that is where the term 'butt' originates from.




Therefore, your name may not pass muster with judges.

That was $2975 out the door.  I was pretty pleased with that.  The guys at Custom Pits were great.

Like the set up. You will have to give us some more info on when you compete! Only did a couple of comps myself but it was a lot of fun so I am sure you will have a good time.

How long will it take to smoke that lady and what spices did you use on her?

On the way to a funeral today, I was able to go to Custom Pits and check out these smokers. I am impressed! I have been dead set on a Lang 84 Deluxe, but these are awesome smokers and the price is really good. The guys are very knowledgable, friendly and answered every question. I sold!

That is one beautiful rig.  And that price!  Wow.  Ahhh, the advantages of living in the east.

Sure did!  It heated up slow, but held a real nice steady temperature once heated.


I was very pleased!  I did a baby brisket, 2 butts, and 4 racks of ribs.  Family went nuts over them.
