I recently came to the end of a 40lb bag of lump coal. I was left with coal pieces the size of smoking chips, which I figured I could use, and a lot of dust. Is there any way to utilize the dust or the chip-sized pieces? Does anyone know ?

Yeah.... that is the downside to lump, you always have a pile of pieces to small to use and dust in the bottom of the bag. Most of it just comes from the handling of the bags as the ship from point "A" to point "B". If you have Cash and Carry in your area they have 40 lb. bags of Lazzary charcoal for about $14, and they come in big pieces that you have to break yourself so it reduces the amount of waste a little bit.... but not entirely.

That right there is why I don't like using lump.
I'm not totally disappointed. This is what was left after 40lbs.
Hey I just checked it out and Lazzary charcoal is pretty close to where you are in Brisbane. You might check them out. their product seems pretty darn good. I can't seem to find it around here but I probably haven't looked hard enough.
